My Last Week in Dec of 2004
Whew, what a week, and I’m glad the weekend is almost here. What am I saying? I work on the weekends too! Anyhow here are the highlights of my week.
Monday: I went to look at houses. My buyers-agent is super kewl. She lives in OC so her super-key didn’t work to see most of the properties. I got to see one though and we scheduled some time on Sunday to see the rest. What I saw surprised me. I went to look at a penthouse, which in the ad, had no mention of needing any work but has been on the market for about 5 months. In Cali, that a considerable amount of time. We went in and the building is gorgeous, has a great pool, and common area. Then we saw the penthouse. The guy selling the place said that it needed paint and new carpet. Well, that wasn’t quite the truth. It needed some serious updating. New everything would be a closer account. It was right out of the 60’s, when the building was built. I know how to do quite a bit of remodeling but I’m not sure if I want to take on a project of this size with my schedule. It would take about 20 g’s to get it all updated and up to par with what I am wanting for my own place. There are 2 other penthouses for sale in the same building, which cost more but are most likely in better shape. There is a dilemma though. I could get this fixer-upper penthouse and fix it up, bringing up the value of the property considerably if I happen to want to sell later. Or…
