My Furry Family pt1
When I was 19 years old I had the clock tick moment, my body was ready to have a baby…my mind was not. How does a young girl combat these feelings of wanting to have babies, to nutrture and care for? Why, we get puppies, that’s what we do!
I was living with someone at the time and we went to the pet store at Honey Creek Malll a few times. During our trips to the pet store I saw this cute little puppy that was black with brown feet, eyebrows and muzzle. She was a spitfire, much like mysellf at the time. I had to hold her andn the sales girl was all too happy to put me in the little puppy cuddling room. The little shit started to run around and bark, growl, bite my fingers while shaking her head…basically anything but cuddling. I was in puppy love!
I had mostly had large dogs growing up. I had a german shepard, a chow, then as a teenager, I had a small white dog that was part chihuahua named: Sally. I guess that was what really did me in. This little brown ball of spunky energy was a lot like Sally. I had also just lost a dog that I loved very much, an Aussie Sherpard named Jessie. She was attacked by a racoon and within days was sick. I took her to the vet and he gave her some meds but it was already too late. Whatever she had was the end of her. I was feeling a bit vunerable when the little chihuahua in the pet store sunk her teeth into my hand and shook her head back and forth. Love at first bite
Its 10 years later and I still have that puppy, although she is considered an elderly dog, many chihuahua’s live past the age of 15. I heard of one that was 25 when it passed away. I can only jhope taht I have 10 more wonderful year swith this spirited animal. She has brought me more joy than i don’t know what. She is always there to be silly, make me smile, and warm my heart at every impass. She has been through the good and that bad, the times when I didn’t have a place to go and when we moved accross the country for me to work in the adult industry.
So my older puppy is cuddle-butt Lainie May. I don’t use her middle name very often but she knows she is in trouble,lol. I swear she knows english much better than she lets on and is a master of facial expression ans well as getting you to cuddle her. She doesn’t like strangers much and is shy with them at first. She warms up after knowing they ae saf eto be around and don’t annoy her, much like me!
