Midwesterner in this Big Ol’ World
It’s very interesting being a Midwesterner in this big world of ours. Once you “escape” the smaller town you are from, something wonderful happens. You meet other Midwesterners! We seem to be everywhere, spread out across the country. We tend to be drawn to each other and have the funniest things in common.
For example: Food
The Midwest is a meat and potatoes lover’s dream. Its not healthy, many times fried and we love it. Many Midwesterners will not eat Sushi. You can’t get them to eat it and they may even make odd noises to display their disgust. Until they actually go somewhere that you can eat fresh sushi, and get badgered by many friends, they aren’t going to even try it. We don’t have fresh sushi in the Midwest so if you have it there, it generally can make you feel icky and just the fishy smell alone will chase you away. They also have a tendency to put ketchup on damn near everything from eggs to rice, to steak(now that is a shame)
Humor:
Midwesterners are big on toilet humor and slapstick. They laugh easily at many things and tend to be the type of smart-ass that you would like to hit in the head.
Attitude:
No BS, straight answers to straight questions and many of us have BS hip waders on(figuratively) when entering into any negotiations. Those of you with a little grin on your face know just what I’m talking about.
Accent:
I have hear that newscasters that are from the Midwest are more successful because they have an accent that everyone can understand and is comforting at the same time. Some people say we don’t have an accent. Others think we are from the south. Being from the Midwest does make it easier to mimic a southern accent.
